State Representative Robby Robbins (Dorchester, Colleton) has been appointed to an Ad Hoc Committee to examine the Judicial Appointment and Selection Process by S.C. House Speaker Murrell Smith.

Robbins is a former top prosecutor in Dorchester, Orangeburg, and Calhoun counties and has more than 36 years of experience practicing law in South Carolina.

“It is quite an honor to be appointed by Speaker Smith. I look forward to the task at hand drawing upon my 36 years of legal experience,” Robbins said of the appointment.

Smith tasked the group to create a set of recommendations to the House of Representatives by February 1, 2024 – and expects them to hold public hearings to listen to all viewpoints. Smith also noted that the group is made up of attorneys and non-attorneys to represent more diverse views.
